Notes by W9WI Poor propagation led
to generally lower scores in 2005. Nobody
(except K4TCG) beat the 100,000-point
barrier; only one DX station submitted an
entry; and 71 entries were submitted, vs. 75
in 2004. On the other hand, two new score
records were set. K9EU handily smashed the
record for out-of-state entrants. There was
one close race this year; K0GSV in Missouri
beat K0JPL by only two CW QSOs. |

SOAPBOX K3CQ:
High antenna wasn't working well. Hiked to
top of hill, found tree down across the open
wire feed line and half the antenna on the
ground. It's a wonder it worked at all!
Enjoyed the last hour on 80 more than the
rest of the test after I straigntened out
the antenna situation a little.
K3GY:
This contrest has been run with W3KM's
logging program GENLOG32 - qrz.com for w3km
web page.... FREEWARE !
K3TW:
"Thanks for sponsoring a fun QSO Party."
K4XU:
Boy, the conditions really sucked pondwater.
I worked everything I heard. I was not able
to start until 2 PM. Nice to work K4LTA/m in
Sevier County, my old home. (Sorry Dick, had to edit some of your
soapbox -- it lost everything after the
80-column point & I had to delete two
sentences that didn't make sense without
their ends!)
N2CQ:
Great activity but not good condx.
N3KN:
I HAD FUN!
N8NM:
Major flares/CME events, disturbed
propagation, near perfect weather, and I
decide to drive 500 miles to spend the day
operating TQP from the Cumberland Valley
using QRP and "FD" style dipoles at 20 feet!
It was grueling, but I'd do it again
tomorrow! Thanks for a great contest, and I
hope to see "you'ns" again next year!
NA9U:
Great QSO party had a lot of fun.
NE4S:
Good signals in Colorado from TN.
VA3RKM:
FT-817, 5W, dipole and vertical. Tnx for
working my small sig!
W1END:
Didn't hear much this year. Conditions??
Rig: TS830s and Butternut HF6V antenna. Log-EQF
software. Thanks to everyone. We'll try
harder next year.
W4HZD:
Band condx were poor, but enjoyed a great
run on west coast.
W6RLL:
If band conditions don't hurry up and get
better, they just might get worse(?) Is that
possible?
WB0UZM:
40 meters was its usual mess. 20 meters so
quiet you could hear a pin drop. |
